Picture this: It’s Saturday morning and you’re curled up in a blanket in front of the fire. The glow of your Christmas tree makes the room unbearably cozy. It’s adorned with ribbons you tied yourself, glittery baubles, and sentimental ornaments that remind you of memories that you cherish. An ambience room plays on the tv—it’s a luxurious bedroom scene with snow falling outside the window, the crackle of a wood burning fire and never ending steam emitting from a bedside cup of coffee. It’s quiet. Your house isn’t awake yet—it’s just you, your morning bev of choice (homemade peppermint mocha, anyone?) and sweet time for self-care. Whether you choose to gratitude journal, plan your December day, or scroll through Pinterest looking for holiday tablescape inspo, it’s bliss. You truly wait all year for mornings like this. And it’s finally here.
Besties, this is how I spent my morning and I’m in literal heaven. Now that it’s December, it’s officially time to bask in morning routines like this and all the magic the holiday season brings. And this little scene I just described? It’s giving majorrrr ✨Fancy Girl Era Holiday✨ vibes.
In case you missed it, I wrote a whole post about how I’m entering my Fancy Girl Era, and taking the vibes into December truly feels iconic, magical, and absolutely right.
The TLDR of Fancy Girl energy is embodying elegance, luxury and intentionality. It’s a whole mood, a whole vibe, and it’s grounded in cultivating beauty, joy and romanticizing your life to the MAX.
It’s sipping coffee out of your prettiest mug, spritzing your favorite perfume just because, dressing up to go grocery shopping, saving your pennies to buy the bag you really want and knowing you deserve the best because you are the best. It’s knowing (and declaring!) that you can prioritize your joy, and that you are worthy of luxury in all of its forms. Yes, material things, but also luxe feelings and experiences. The vibes are literally everything, so why not amp up the sparkle? If you’re not doing it in December, what are you waiting for??
So what’s a Fancy Girl Era Holiday?
Let me break the season down.
It’s cozy yet glamorous. Think matching pj sets, faux fur slippers, oversized sweaters, sparkly dresses, glittering Christmas trees, and journaling in front of the fire. It’s both holiday glam and holiday cozy. They’re equally important, ya know?
It’s romanticizing the season and slowing down to enjoy it. It’s sipping on hot chocolate and savoring the sweetness. It’s baking cookies in a cutie apron while watching The Holiday. It’s wrapping presents in gorgeous paper and ribbon. It's dancing to Christmas music in the kitchen. It’s holding hands on a winter stroll.
It’s sharing love generously. Think heartfelt notes on pretty paper, holiday hosting, bubbly drinks and toasting to loved ones, thoughtful gifts, and bear hugs with rosy cheeks.
It’s taking care of yourself. It’s winter skin care routines, going to bed early (beauty sleep is essential!), setting boundaries, snowy walks and giving yourself permission to enjoy the beauty of the season guilt-free.
In short, a Fancy Girl Era holiday is luxe, magical, sparkly and a total vibe. I mean, of course, right?
A Fancy Girl Era Holiday Guide
I’m so excited to share my own, personalized Fancy Girl Era holiday to-do list. I’m a big believer in following your gut, your excitement and your joy, so feel free to pick activities that sound fun and not something you feel like you should do. Again, the vibes are literally everything! Here are a few ideas to get your own Fancy Girl Era Holiday going ✨
Spend an afternoon at a holiday market. A warm bev is a must. Wear your favorite outerwear and sip on hot cocoa as you browse for thoughtful and beautiful gifts. And don’t be afraid to treat yourself too!
Bake cookies in a cozy kitchen. Since this is Fancy Girl Era Holiday, try your hand at fancy cookies, whatever that means to you. Maybe it’s brown butter chocolate chip or maybe it’s edible glitter dusted on top of sugar cookies shaped like snowflakes. Set the vibe with music or your fav holiday movie. Have fun and bake them with love. Bonus points for wrapping them in gorgeous wrapping and ribbon and giving them to neighbors and friends.
Have a holiday cocktail night. Put bows on your glassware. Wear a sparkly dress. Wear red lipstick. Sip on something fancy.
Write luxe holiday cards. Gorgeous stationery. A mug of tea. Cutie words to family and friends. Wax seals are also not too extra, go for it girl.
Have a fancy holiday movie night. Tbh this is my reality every night in December. Your coziest pjs, ambient lights (the glow of your Christmas tree and the fire is all you need, trust), a festive mocktail and a holiday classic. It truly never gets old.
Indulge in a winter spa day. Book your appointments now, queen! Or schedule a day for self-care at home. I love spending a Saturday in my robe, with an everything shower and a mani-pedi on the to-do list (and nothing else!) Holiday music is always a plus.
Take yourself on a fancy holiday date. Obsessed with this. I like to dress up and take myself to a fancy bar for a holiday cocktail. I’ll bring my journal and daydream about my 2025 goals. Doing this in a luxe environment is a total vibe. (DC friends, I’ve done this at Cafe Riggs for a few years in a row and I’m obsessed!)
Decorate! A holiday home is essential and omg, my Fancy Girl Era holiday vibe is so so lovely. Ivory and gold. Black velvet ribbon. Elevated, cozy, glamorous. Looove.
Find your signature scent. Then spritz it everyday. You’ll remember how special this season is everytime you wear it.
Look at holiday lights. Either in your car or on a stroll. Bundle up and bring your cocoa. Pretend you’re a kid again. Or pretend you’re the main character of a Hallmark movie. Whichever feels more fun.
Plan a holiday meal. This one is truly up to you—maybe you gather friends for a luxe holiday brunch, or maybe it’s a candlelit dinner for you and your partner, or perhaps it’s fancy take-out for a solo evening on the couch. Whatever it is, make it special by setting the table, lighting some candles and having a slow, indulgent meal. Enjoy your holiday decor and savor it all.
Visualize 2025. I’m obsessed with goal setting, daydreaming and visualizing. January is, of course, a new year, so there’s going to be lots of chatter about this—especially the week after Christmas. If it feels fun and luxurious, start daydreaming now. Light a candle, curl up in front of the fire, and scroll through Pinterest. As you start crafting the new year ahead, have gratitude for 2024 at the same time. A vision board sesh should be a total vibe, so set the scene with all the things you love.
I hope reading through this post today has inspired you to create your own magical, luxe and fun holiday season. December is yours for the taking, and let’s be real, you’ve survived 2024—you deserve to be a little extra this month. Let me know how your December dreams are panning out, and what you’re adding to your own list! Happy holidays!
xx, Kristen
